Chicha morada is a traditional Peruvian non-alcoholic drink made from purple corn (maíz morado). It’s typically simmered with pineapple peel, cinnamon, and cloves, then strained, sweetened, and finished with lime or lemon juice.
It tastes fruity, lightly spiced, sweet-tart, and refreshing, and is usually served cold. Unlike some other drinks called chicha, chicha morada is generally not fermented and contains no alcohol.
