Whole Cloves 40g

Commonly used as a spice, Cloves are fragrant flower buds from trees in the family Myrtaceae, Syzygium aromaticum. They are native to the Maluku Islands in Indonesia but can be harvested in other countries such as India, Madagascar, Zanzibar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Tanzania. The clove tree is an evergreen tree that grows up to 8–12 m tall, with large leaves and bright flowers grouped in terminal clusters. The flower buds start with a pale hue, progress to green, then transition to a bright red when ready for harvest. Cloves can be cooperated in many cuisines including Asian, African and Middle East by lending its unique flavour to meats, curries, and marinades, as well as fruit such as apples, pears or rhubarb. Also, the spices can be used to give aromatic and flavour qualities to hot beverages and is often combined with other ingredients such as lemon and sugar. Alternatively, cloves have been used in Indian Ayurvedic medicine, Chinese medicine, western herbalism and dentistry where the essential oil is used as a painkiller.  Furthermore, Cloves have many other health benefits such as increasing hydrochloric acid in the stomach and to improve peristalsis.
